COUPLES COUNSELLING
Whether you're navigating a specific challenge or seeking understanding and lasting change, couples counselling offers a pathway.
The first three sessions are like opening a map before setting out on a journey.
When couples arrive, they're often standing in the middle of difficult terrain. They know they want things to be different, but they are not always sure how they got where they are or which direction to take next.
It is more common than not for one partner to be leading the charge for change while the other tries to catch up. This is normal.
Before we decide where we are going, we first need to understand the landscape.
Relationships are like gardens. They require tending to.
Flowers come in and out of bloom. It is easy to focus on what's visible above the surface. Lasting growth depends on understanding what is happening beneath the soil. Before planting anew, we explore what's healthy and what's not, what works and what doesn't.
We work on understanding the differences between you, your individual and shared dreams, challenges and roadblocks and how you relate to each other now and in the past. This provides a clear direction for the counselling process.
Growth doesn't happen immediately; however, consistent effort in the right direction does lead to change. We'll uncover what conditions allow your relationship to become stronger, healthier and more resilient.
The goal isn't to depend on counselling for the health of your relationship; it is to deepen your understanding of what you can do (as individuals and as a couple) to create the type of relationship you desire. Everyone deserves this.
